STD transmission of gonorrhea & chlamydia?

I found out that my boyfriend has previously had some STDS - gonorrhea & chlamydia. He was infected over 2 years ago now, he was successfully treated, and no longer has symptoms (I don't think).

I am worried about myself -- since he doesn't have the symptoms anymore is it still possible to be infected by it. For example, does he carry some "carrier" cells that can infect me in the future if he fingers me or we have sex? Or are these STDs "cured" until you are infected by someone who presently has the STD?

Thanks for your help!

The surest way to avoid transmission of STDs is to abstain from sexual contact, or to be in a long-term mutually monogamous relationship with a partner who has been tested and is known to be uninfected.

Latex male condoms, when used consistently and correctly, can reduce the risk of transmission of chlamydia.

Once he is successfully taken all prescribed medications, and gone back to be checked again, after the meds to make sure, then your good.

Answer
If he got cured for Gonorrhea and Chlamydia then its completely gone and not transmittable unless he got reinfected. It is always recommended to get tested regularly with your partner and always practice safe sex.

Thanks,
